LivingWorks ASIST
What is Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training? (ASIST)
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an evidence-based suicide intervention workshop developed by LivingWorks. It has been delivered globally for over 30 years and is supported by extensive research.
ASIST is designed for everyone — not just health professionals. Teachers, community workers, first responders, managers, and everyday people who are passionate about creating communities safer from suicide.
During the two days, participants:
-
Learn a step-by-step model to guide conversations with someone who has thoughts of suicide
-
Build confidence in asking directly about suicide and offering compassionate, immediate support
-
Practise real-life skills and scenarios so you feel ready to respond in your workplace, school, or community
-
Learn how to co-create a safety plan that helps the person stay safe-for-now and connected to ongoing support
-
Develop greater comfort and openness in having conversations about suicide
-
Leave with a renewed sense that your words and actions can truly make a difference.

Beyond the skills, ASIST is an experience of connection, understanding, and empathy — a chance to come together with others who care deeply about making their communities safer.
You’ll walk away not just with new knowledge, but with confidence, compassion, and hope. It's what it gave me and what I can't wait to share with you.
